The Metro Summer Basketball League will have a new look this summer.  Their are two separate leagues; an elite league consisting of draft teams and UNO, UNK, and Bellevue, and a team league consisting of Bellevue, Morningside, Hastings, Dana, Doane, Midland Lutheran, Buena Vista, Wayne State, and a local Bellevue team consisting of East and West graduates competing at the collegiate level.  We have a solid group of professionals competing again (Turek, Wilkinson, Drevo, Dourisseau, Buford) and several confirmed professional substitutes (Korver, Tolliver, Funk, Watts, C. Richardson) as they will be in and out of Omaha throughout the summer.  UNO has their current team led by Andrew Bridger and fans can get a glimpse of Tyler Bullock and other newcomers.  UNK has their entire team entered from last year, they will be led by All-American Drake Beranek who will be a senior next season.  Bellevue has a very talented group of players with several former metro high school standouts.  With a strong recruiting class they look to make another run at the NAIA National Tournament, finishing this season with an Elite Eight finish. 

We also added a new component to the summer league.  Each draft team selected one player who competed at the high school level last season.  The players selected were Dwight Smith of Ralston, Jerrell Crayton of Bellevue East, Deverell Biggs of Central, Derrick Davis of Bellevue West, Caleb Steffensmeier of Prep, Ben Imig of Bryan, and Tanner Ferguson of Sioux City Heelan.  These players will only compete in the month of June as they will be traveling in July for AAU events.
